"Be genuine ..... Ecogenuine"

THE COMPANY

Ecogenuine is a genuinely climate- and environmental-friendly skin and hair care shop. Therefore, we solely offer zero-waste products where the amount of waste, climate and environmental impacts have been minimized. Practically it means that our products come in 100% compostable packaging free of plastic. The contents of the products are also completely renewable and ecologically degradable and do not contain any harmful chemicals. The manufacturers do not purchase raw materials from intermediaries and pursue fair trades and engage in sustainable cultivation projects. The products are hand made in France and New Zealand, respectively. The latter has a warehouse in the UK to which the products are shipped by vessel. The packaging is a paper specially developed to be compostable and ecologically degradable.  Even the printing ink on the packaging is also ecologically degradable. Please observe, that this is not the case with paper packaging in general. To avoid plastic packaging, the products come in solid form. This also entails that a huge amount of water is saved compared to liquid products that usually contain large amounts of water. In addition, the transports also become more climate-friendly as the amount of volume and weight decreases. Most products also usually last 2-5 times longer than a corresponding bottle. Ecogenuine delivers the products to you in corrugated cardboard made of 100% recycled paper and which of course may be recycled again. This also applies to any shock absorber, if needed. The box is closed with paper tape made of 60% bio-based material without solvent. Our address labels are also made of recycled paper. Ecogenuine never sends orders in overly large boxes, delivery notes or unnecessary flyers. That way, the amount of waste is further reduced, for the company, you as a customer and most of all the  environment. To keep the number of transports down, we also urge you as a customer to use the products sparingly and rather place a large orders than several small ones. Ecogenuine thinks skin and hair care should be simple but not on the expense of the climate and the environment.

OUR PRODUCTS

Our products are 100% vegan and do not contain parabens, silicones, palm oil or ingredients from unsustainable or unethical cultivations. Some of our products have been organic cultivated, although the rest of our products derives from renewable scources. All of our products have a very low or neutral impact on the climate. Even though the products come in solid they should not be confused with soap as they do not contain ingredients of those in soap. Instead, they are based on minerals, coconut oil, cocoa butter and essential oils. This means, for example, that the surfactant in the coconut oil is extracted for shampoo or the fatty acids in the cocoa butter for lotion. The bars stay fresh as they contain substances that are naturally antibacterial. The solid shape makes them both lasting and price worthy. Approximately half of our shampoo collection are sulfate-free and is labeled in the product description. The other shampoos contain a milder sulfate deriving from coconut oil and is named Sodium coco-sulfate. There is yet no scientific reasearch showing evidence of sulfate doing damage the hair. Though still many people prefer sulfate-free shampoo and therefore we decided to have the offer. A matter of course, our products are not tested on animals, neither end product nor separate ingredients.

WHO AM I?

Ecogenuine was started in the summer of 2020 by Anna Tenggren. The idea for a plastic-free skin and hair care shop was born in accordance with the growing amount of plastic packaging that never seemed to run out in the recycling bin. Despite the large selection of organic skin and hair care products, it did not feel very environmental-friendly considering the amount of plastic waste they resulted in. Concerned about my children's future and eager to do something, I figured it must be possible to find skin and hair care products that provide significant less waste. After some research and testing, I found two fantastic brands. At first I was skeptical as I had previously tried many different shampoo bars that reminded of soap and left my hair sticky. But, I was pleasantly surprised! I wanted to share my experience as a step to reduce the amount of plastic and waste in the world. Therefore, I decided to open a genuinely environmental-friendly shop that not only sells eco-friendly content but also eco-friendly packaging and where most consideration for the climate and environment has been followed through all the way.
